Ok, so here's the lowdown.
I'm trying to install a second HD for Vista testing. My primary HD right now is a 160GB SATA drive. The HD I'm trying to intsall is a Maxtor 40GB IDE. My setup is as follows...
Mobo: MSI-7103
CPU: P4 2.93Ghz
RAM: 512MB PC-3200
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Currently, there is an optical drive on the IDE2 channel, it's a generic DVD/RW drive. I have tried putting the IDE drive as slave and master on this channel, to no avail. I get a stop error on the boot. "Remove any new drives, etc" I have also tried setting the IDE drive up on the IDE1 channel, master and slave, and again, no joy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
