Some help for upgrading my basic computer

Ok, I went to a couple of shops, and they said what I really need is just more RAM> They recomened one which is 'PC2100'.

A couple of questions.

If Celeron is slower than Intel, what is the Intel equivalent of a 2.5ghz Celeron?

What does 'PC2100' mean?

When looking for RAM, I found these two different types. One is labeled under 'Memory DDR - PC2100 (266Mhz)' and the other 'Memory DDR / DDR2 ECC - PC2100/3200'. What is the difference between these two?

Thanks once again.

Celeron is a brand name used by Intel to describe their crappy processors (sorry to be so blunt).

By the sounds of things you may be better off building from scratch.

Yeah i agree with LU4s u would b better off just start off with something small but future proof like something with a pci-e slot and with a new socket like the AM2's or those dreaded Core 2 Duo sockets.

i used to have a celeron 2.4 Ghz and my sisters Pentium 3 was faster than it for most things. telling you the pentium equivalent wouldn't be easy.
