sry i thought u where talking about the case LED lights,
try a different IDE cable for the cd drives and see if its recognized in the BIOS

yea something similar happened to me before. my dvd rom couldnt read any cd's or dvd's and i switched the ide cable and now it works fine.

Yeah the cable is a good idea to try, I never thought of that. If it isn't that then yeah there's something jank about the bios or mobo. Have you searched for any bios updates for the board?

yea, try a bios update, prob got an os bug that went wacko on the bios.
