I just upgraded to a SATA drive. I wanted to compare my old HD with the new one. So I ran a benchmark on Sandra on my ATA HD; for read performance it came up Drive Index: 54 MB/s and Random access time: 14ms. The new SATA drive was 57 MB/s and 13ms.
In the Sandra menu the SATA drive came up as just ATA. In the device manager it said it says primary ATA channel.
My question is: is my computer thinking that the SATA drive is ATA and limiting the speed. Or is it just saying ATA because SATA is a type of ATA.
Thank you for your help.
