need help badly

It is possible, I don't know much about Intel processors, but AMD squeezes processes more per clock cycle than Intel does, and maybe there is a similar thing going on with the processor you own, that a newer 2.4 P4 CPU is getting more done per cycle than an older 2.4 P4 CPU, although it's not likely.

I really don't know what is going on, maybe you are having a malfunction in some of your hardware. Check if your RAM is secured, and make sure that there is a power plug going to your 6600GT.

Although it probably didn't, hope that helped.

newer p4 2.4ghz?

I'll assume its a 2.4Ghz Northwood -- old old core, before prescott even, if you can remember back that far (prescott days -- when intel meant 50C+ Idle temps and big clock speeds)

so, that said, you should never expect it to perform well in today's games, especially not in BF2142.

its surprising you get 15-25fps with such slow ram and cpu to be honest.

If you really desperately badly want to be able to run that game at a playable fps rate, do yourself a favour and buy a new system.
