Hey guys ! I was wandering if you guys could help me out. I'm tired of my crap laptop and my parents hogging the other one so I decided to build my own. Well, the thing is I'm going to sell my laptop to my dad for 200 dollars and thats all i have to spend due to the fact im still a student and need other funds... So i was wandering what you guys think i can pull together? AGP is fine i dont want PCI-E. So maybe think back oldschool? haha so far the cpus I've been looking at are :

What i look for in this computer is reliability, office work, music and old games like Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3, small stuff haha.

ahh sory i dont wana buy DFi, not a fan since i bought my Lanparty nForce 4 ultra =\ and athlon xp < sempron? whah?! O_O

i though sempron was like celeron.

It's gonna be really hard with $200

I have nothing better to do at the moment, so here's the worst, erm... best system I could come up with in a few seconds ($287):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537 - CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131035 - Mobo

Go bum an old case/CD-ROM drive from somewhere (and maybe $87 :))

May be able to save a tad if you go integrated graphics. Also, if you can't find a case, get a big cardboard box and set it up in there until you scrape up enough money for a case. You'll have to use a piece of metal for a power/reset switch, tho.

ohh ! thanks, i dont need RAM tho, i have that and a cdrom drive. I just need a case cpu mobo hdd and video card.

i dont really need amd 64. im fine with socket 478 or socket A.

i really like the athlons xp because a friend of mine had one and it was sweet. im not looking for modern day tech O_O. what do you guys think?

Well you know what I think, go with the Athlon 64. It will be much better, and its only about $25 more.

or iono. maybe someone has a older system lying around they wana get rid of >_>

umm... im sorry but just save up your money, its not really worth it to get something thats that outdated

You already have some of the parts and $200 just save up and get something nice to show off to all your friends ;)

Are u gaming with it or is it just a casual comptuer to browse the internet
