Recommended books

Hi, I want to start a career within computer engineering and/or programming, and I was thinking of buying some books on the subject.

Any recommendations?

I suggest you also take some classes on the subject at your local college, but just do an Amazon search for C++ and whatnot books.

I understand the C/C++ language, but I'd like to get some knowledge about how a computer works on lower levels, like circutry and hardware.
