Okay, I'm going to finally recieve my birthday money(Which was on 8/10)... and it's time for me to buy some pieces for my new computer. I only have 250 to do it, and I already have a

Video card:
Radeon 9550, I know it sucks, but maybe once I get some money I'll pick up a 7600GT or a 7900GS if I can get some more money.

HDD:
IDE 160gb Maxtor, maybe for Christmas I'll get two 80 gb SATA2 drives and put them in RAID 0... I don't use that much space..

Case:
Some crappy case, like really crappy.. I don't even use the sidepanel on it, probably so little airflow in this case..(**** IDE cables, I need to get some round ones.) Maybe later on when I get some money, I will get a nice, 30 dollar case... will work for what I need... I'm not looking for a flashy case, I would rather one with nice airflow and design.

DVD Drive:
Maddog, horrible brand, but whatever, it's what I have and it works for now.

I will replacing the PSU, memory, motherboard and CPU. I will take my old ones and set up a computer, using some of my extra stuff I got laying around in my house. I'll let my family use it as their computer )

Anyway, the pieces I'm getting are..

Motherboard: ASRock 939Dual-VSTA Socket 939 ULi M1695 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16813157097 $68.99
I need support for an AGP card, with support for PCIe x16 later on
PSU: Sunbeam PSU-BKS580-US ATX 580W Power Supply - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16817709011 $23.99
Not the best PSU, but I trust that it won't crap out on me so soon. And if it does, hopefully it's within the warranty, or else I'm screwed
CPU: AMD Opteron 146 Venus 2.0GHz Socket 939 Processor Model OSA146BNBOX - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819103598 $99.99
A lot of overclocking potential if I get the right stepping on it. I'm pretty sure CACJE is a good stepping. It would really suck if the highest I can get this thing is 2.2ghz... but hopefully it can at least get 2.6ghz with a stock fan..
RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model PEP5123200LL - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820220018 $59.99
I don't really want to run my memory with a divider, it'll let me overclock a bunch more. I will probably get another 512mb stick at Christmas, so I can run this in dual channel. 512mbs is :( though.

Comments?

I copied this post from where I posted it at another forum, so if I copied images like smilies and it sounds a bit wierd, it might be because there is no smilie there..

Newegg's servers are down for me :(

My old mobo was ASROCK, nothing but problems. Most mobos BTW only have AGP 8X OR PCI-E...not both.

I dunno about the PSU. You don't want a crappy brand name, it's better to have more quality and less power.

I would spend all that money on RAM though, personally.

This one has good ratings, some members of this forum(I believe Shmuway has it.) like it too.

This one has both AGP and PCIe, which is why I want it.

Well, this one has been getting good reviews, but regardless, I am willing to take my chances. I don't need to spend 50 dollars for a brand name PSU, that's just my opinion.

Well, having 2 gigabytes of RAM running a socket A 2000+ XP wouldn't be a good idea, now would it?
