CPU temperature is high....

I have AMD Althon64 X2 4400+

and I use this heatsink

I have Thermaltake Armor case, w/o upgrade.

My CPU temperature is about 45.C
(Even after extreme cleaning of the case not that long time ago)

I was thinking this HS would do a better job..

my friends got that heatsink along with a 4200 plus and he's idoling about 28 degrees celcius with no oc...... hrmm, try re-seating it and reapplying thermal paste

hrmm, thats very odd, what program do you use to check your temps?

I use speedfan....... and EVEREST Home Edition

both show pretty much same temp..

well then, the only thing i can say is, re-apply the thermal paste and heatsink

I have changer grease to AS5

and my CPU temperature now is like 25-30 C..
lol.. its like 15 C difference

yay i was about to say try reapplying thermal paste and do you know how to put it on and what type to use. but you already beat me to it

Bingo, another success story from Arctic Silver. Man you gotta love that stuff, it brought my 2.8 ghz from 46 C to a steady 39 C at full load.

Since we're on the same topic, what's the max temp allowable for a Pentium 4 1.8GHz Northwood Core (I presume), cause sometimes mine hits at 82C.
