Windows XP Home CD?

Ok... I'm probably going to get **** for this. I installed a legal copy of WIndows XP home on a cousin's PC. It was working fine for a year until their ******* kid installed Limewire and the thing is a cesspool of viruses and spyware. But that wasn't enough.
The little ******* surfed more porn sited than I ever did in my foour years of college. So its even more of a cesspool.
Now I'm called into to reformat the PC. But I can't. Why? Because their ********* lost the Windows XP Home cd. There's the sticker I put on the side of it with the CD key and the COA, but alas - the CD has dissapeared without a trace. The ONE god **** thing I specifically told them not to lose - they lost.
It gets better.
I bought it off ebay over a year ago and since ebay sucks they don't keep records that far back, so I can't prove to Microsoft I actually bought it. For all they know I stole it.
So here I am. I'm going to ask if anyone has an ISO or BIN of the Windows XP HOME CD with SP2.
I don't know how to prove this is legit, and I have no problem asking my ******* jock cousins to pay for another copy of XP, but I would like to exhaust all options first.

I have contacted Microsoft and asked for a replacement CD - I think it costs $20. But one of their requirements is a receipt of the original sale - which I can't get.

Check your C:\Windows for a folder called I386. If its there tell me.

Why not just get rid of the infections on the PC and avoid formatting?

Everything on the hard drive is infected. I mean everrything. I tried getting rid of the infections with no luck. I pulled the drive, scanned it; Norton removed over 10,000 infections put the drive back in and it was still there. It is the worst I have ever seen in ten years. Everything ont he drive has to be considered compromized.

I don't do torrents.
I have checked all over IRC and nobody has XP home iso's. Everything is Pro.

Well if someone here were to send you an ISO via ftp or whatever, that would basically be the equivalent of a torrent, and they wouldn't necessarily be more trustworthy just because they're from this forum. The advantage with torrents is you can read many different reviews of those who've already used the file before downloading it.

Well, what do you guys think? Asking for a copy of XP is still illegal even if you lost the original copy and still retain a key, you're downloading someone's else copy who is breaking the law by distributing the copy.

My advice is to not ask where to download; if someone puts a link then youÂ’ll get them in trouble also. Use your head, thereÂ’s a search engine.

Well that's just too bad.
the software was paid for - legally.
Just because something is against the law doesn't mean its bad or unethical.
