OK, I am planning a computer build spending around 1K. So far I have come up with the following components and was hoping I could receive further input regarding the list as well as what parts to add...

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz

Video Card: eVGA 512MB 7900GTO PCI-E

Motherboard: trying to decide from this list...

I do not want to spend too much money so I need the mobo that will get the job done and is compatible with my givin video card in SLI for future upgrading (would ASUS P5NSLI at $109.99 be compatible)?

Onboard Audio for now

400GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive

Power Supply??

RAM??

That motherboard will work with everything you have/want. Why would you need SLI with that video card though?

I went with a case that already had a power supply in it, but you need at least 500-600 W for that video card and/or if you going to use SLI, RAM, I personally like Corsair Ram.

Good stuff guys, for the power supply, would something like this Antec 550W supply do?

Or would you guys drop a little more for a 600W OCZ?

I am trying to save as much money as possible. When it comes to the ram I have heard there are compatibility issues between OCZ and Asus. I was intending to get 2GB of OCZ ram...

Is it worth getting the 2GB or will 1GB be sufficient without any sacrifice in performance? I appreciate your input everyone, thanks.

I think that it is well worth getting 2 GB of ram rather than 1.
I have an asus board, havent tried OCZ, but i got a pair of 1 GB G.skills for about the same price as some of the OCZ ones and it has not messed up yet. Plugged it in and not problems. Hope that helps some.

If i were you, i would save some money and get a less expensive video card so you can save some pocket change for then the DX10 gets released. Maybe a 7600 for now to get that extra 1GB of ram?

usually any of the ocz compatibility issues may be resolved through their(or asus') website.
if you're still skeptical, i believe corsair does have nice ddr2's out (ddr's were controversial)and very good generics.
i have ocz gold, but then again, im on an amd and dfi mobo.
G.skillz are good OC'ers so might want to consider their sweet skillz!

oh yeah definitely get 2gigs now

Due to the compatibility issues between Asus and OCZ, I think I might be better off getting some G-Skill RAM....

You guys think I will be better off with that RAM over the 2GB of OCZ to avoid compatibility problems. The G-Skill is also DDR2 800 as opposed to the OCZ, which is 667. Below is the link to the OCZ, what you guys think?

As for the power supply, what is the cheapest and highest quality power supply I could get to power this system adequately with no problems. Thanks again guys.

Found this Thermaltake for 59.99 after rebate...

Seems to have better reviews than the Antec. Will the 500W be sufficient to power my system with no hiccups? Would you guys recommend this over the Antec? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, just want to make sure I'm gettin the right stuff spending my money. Thanks!

Also found an Ultra 500W Supply, free after rebate from outpost... will it get the job done?
