Computer keeps restarting! Help!

my friend has an emachine and whenever he gets into windows the computer HARd restarts. this means windows does not close and the whole computer turns off right away and restarts. it started doing this after he installed some kodak software update and he says it keeps giving him a message saying "2 new hardware devices found". I told him it might be a PSU failure but he said he didnt smell anything. also i told him to clean out his fans. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Try to boot into safe mode and remove the software that was installed. Then restart the machine. If it still fails to load. Return to safe mode again and this time try to do a system restore, and restore to a time that you know the machine worked for sure. Let me know if either of those dont work.
