So I am contemplating my memory upgrade. Right now I only have 1x1 gb Corsair xms2 ddr2-800 and despite being advertised at 5-5-5-12 it only runs at 5-5-5-18. There is no option to set memory timings in my bios, only cas# (Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 MoBo). I am wondering if I should go with 2x1 Gb of another brand (i.e. mushkin with advertised timings of 4-4-3-10, I think) or just save the money and buy only 1 more Corsair despite the wrong timings. Would I really notice a difference between 5-5-5-18 and the advertised 5-5-5-12?
Should I even bother?

i would go with the mushkin personally better timings usually mean better performance
The problem with that is, according to the reviews I've read, in order to get the mushkin to run at the 4-4-3-10 you need to set the timings yourself as well (Which I guess gigabyte doesn't want me to do), otherwise it's more like 5-5-5-12 or something (idk, I forget and I got to go back to work in 5 mins so I can't check out the reviews yet).
