Internet Explorer closing! HELP!

I'm having a problem with my Internet Explorer. It's closing every time I go to some sites (www.hollywood.com and marsmusic.com are two off the top of my head). It's really annoying. First I though it was just spyware problems, but I ran Adaware (Spybot won't run on my computer; it turns my computer off) and got rid of all the identified files but my window is still closing.

Any idea?

Oh, I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0.

Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. Save it to itÂ’s own folder (not temporary files or the desktop).
Close all open windows and open HIJACK THIS. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the scan and advise

How do you update your browser? If you're talking about the IE update Service pack from Microsoft, that won't happen. You know... legal issues

if that doesn't work do this:


1. Go to Start>Run and enter SFC and click OK
2. Check "Extract one File"
3. Enter the file name (oleaut.dll)and click on "Start"
4. In the "Restore from" field enter:: D:\WIN98 [if 'D' is not the letter of your CD-Rom drive, modify appropriately]
5. Click OK

I tried all of the above and it's still closing. It wouldn't even open the SFC when I clicked OK.

in your internet explorer goto tools - windows update
