DVD RW reads only DVDs !!!

hi,
I have a DVD-RW from Sony.But the problem is, suddenly it stopped responding to CD-ROMs and CD-RWs too.It can only read and write to DVDs !! I am using it for past one year and this problem is started since last 3 months.Any idea?
I have cleaned the lenses, tried different CDs but no luck.

im not sure if ur using a laptop or a desktop but its the same **** .

when u open up the drive ull see the laser sitting on one or two Chrome rods that help it slide up n down. on a Q-tip u can either use WD-40 or motor oil. smear it with the Q-tip with a really thin layer n then close it up .

i had a the same problem with my CD-ROM and my PS2
