This is a sound card...

would it work with this motherboard?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813157097

im asking this because the sound card says it needs a "2.1 pci slot", and I have no idea what that is..

and I guess i'll just go ahead and ask.
What do you think about this new rig im getting.
(I found out that Dx10 cards will be coming out in november, and ATI dx10 cards will be coming out mid 2007, (thats what im going for) and well here is a temporary upgrade for me until mid 2007)

CPU

I got an X800 GTO, i figure thats good enough for now.

I don't want to blow too much cash, i just want an upgrade beyond a Athlon xp 2800+

Sound card will work... PCI is PCI, you would only have to be concerned if you were using like a 12-year-old AT motherboard with like 16-bit PCI interface...

As for the CPU, dual core is the way to go these days, maybe you should rethink your options.

looks good, the cpu and mobo are good, and probabally the sound card will work with that mobo. dont quote me on that.

well i was thinking about upgrading real good. like i was going to use a dual 2 core e6300, but after rethinking, i figured ill just do a full upgrade in a year.

I was reading reviews about the 3700+
they said that the venice 3000+ is much better.
Anyone have any info about this? Or anything about the best AMD processor.
HEre are the conditions:
