I put 1GB DDR 333 Mhz CL2.5 Ram - 200 pin- (hynix brand) into my Toshiba Satellite A70 laptop (Part number is PSA70-0WF00W.) The computer does not recognize it.
I researched carefully to get the right memory for the computer.
Question- Does the fact that "SO DIMM" does not appear on the new RAM specs mean that it is not compatible?
Is my computer fussy about brands ?- I read somewhere that Toshiba Satellites have a chip which will not be compatible with any old components (RAM). I have tried re-installing it 3 times so I'm sure it is actually in the slot properly.
I could switch it for Samsung (I am in Korea) or could play it real safe and send o'seas for Toshiba ram - or for Kingston, which is recommended by Tosh. BTW I tried updating the BIOS with a download but still no go with hynix. Any ideas?

I install Kingston memory (the only brand we carry at my work) in Toshibas all the time and I've had nary a problem. You might just switch over to that brand.
