hi guys. i recently visited wincustomize.com and i downloaded a windows boot up screen, a windows log on screen(the screen where u type the password to log on to windows) and a windows blind which i assume from what i read changes the whole ui of windows? how do i use these things, how do i apply the log on screen, the boot screens and the windows blind? is it safe to do so,will it make the system unstable?

i experimented with that stuff a while back, the installer files had read me doc's included that I read and they answered all my questions.

boot screens change system files and do have a small element of risk, you should backup those files first and read me doc's should provide instructions.

window blinds runs in the background and doesn't replace system files, very secure, but there is a performance hit since it runs in the background.

I've used this some too themepacker, has all kinds of themes, like bootscreens it replaces system files so there is an element of risk, but this doesn't run in the background eating resources.

So the bad on window blinds is that it makes your computer a little slower.

The bad on bootscreens & themepackers is since they replace system files, if something goes wrong then it could be bad, the risk is supposed to be a small one but window blinds doesn't carry this risk.

For the Bootscreen you need to install the BootSkin App.

Same thing for the Logon Studio

Also with WindowsBlinds

After downloading and installing all 3 of these apps you can then use what you have previously downloaded and they will work.

With WB5 they have changed the way the app works. It doesnt use any system resources now. It replaces the UxTheme.dll upon bootup and therefor doesnt use any resources. I personally have run WB5 since it was in Beta and have had no issue with lost resources or anything like it.

ok so lets say i install these 3 apps, use them to change my log on,boot up and windows blind/theme,can i uninstall the apps straight after and still keep the new log on boot up etc how do i uninstall the apps fully, ive heard theyre quite complicated to get rid of safely,is this true?

You can not just uninstall them after you change the things you wish to change. They will go back to normal.

As for the 2nd part i know you can uninstall BootSkins, and the Logon Studio Easily. But the WindowsBlinds can be tricky. I have had a instance where it woulrnt use any theme but the classic theme. A repair install fixed that but overall they are easy to remove.

cool in that case i wont risk windows blinds.but i have downloaded logon and bootskon. if in the future i decide just to go back to normal default boot up and log on how do i do this. if i just delete the programmes will they revert automatically or do i need to change them in the app first?
