Help me choose a processor

I just check newegg's intel processors and found that the intel p4 prescots 3.0 ghz processor is cheaper than the amd athlon 64 3000-3700 processors on new egg and....I can't freaken make up my mind on which one I should buy if I am going to upgrade my computer! I read here that amd processors are good for gaming (which is basically what I want my pc to be made for) and intel processors are good for business pcs but....I also heard that intel has a slightly higher perfomance and it can give better graphic. So **** it which one should I get.

Get the AMD 3000-3700 processors. They perform as much if not better then the P4.

I agree. My new computer is a 3500 AMD, about the midrange that he said above. It's extremely fast, and I haven't even taken off the trial software yet!

+1 on the AMD. Just got a 3700+ system and i'm very impressed with the processor.

Intel Pentium 4 is about 5-years old now. It's very outdated, and Intel is moving on with the Core systems.

Defenitely get an AMD, they also run much cooler. My new one is at 34 degrees.

there is no contest between the Athlon 64s and Pentium 4s, the Athlons win hands down. however the Core 2 series from Intel is better than the Athlon 64 (K8), you should look into that

If your wanting decent performance and even more decent price, get the 3800 x2 AM2 or S939
