I have bad sectors and an erratic computer. Can I prolong the agony by reformting? I mean if I put in a whole new (or old) OS will it clear up the bad sectors for now?

Do a scandisk to mark the bad sectors. Then, if still experiencing problems, format the entire disk or partition.

thanks
Does partitioning work if you had say 1% of thr drive bad?Can you partition off just that amount -like cutting out a bit of mouldy cheese. Is that too simple?

no theres no way to partition of just the bad sectors as far as i know, the bad sectors could be anywhere on the disc not just at the end or start

( well technicaly scandisc would sort of do it since it makes the comp stop using bad sectors if it finds them
