new computer?

ok i have decided to build a computer for gaming. i have no idea were to really start. so i come here for help. well my first question is what processor thats on the market is good?

Well the Conroes or Core 2 Duos are the best on the market right now? But first, what is your budget?

ya i was looking at those. the people at the computer store said they were the best but i wanted to see what other people said. i really dont havea budget but i also dont want to spend way to much. i was thinking the E6300 with the intel 965 mother board.

high end 1500

depending on what you have allready and what you need
have you checked out newegg yet?

start with your processor

than a motherboard that is combatible

than video card

1 gb ram (i prefer cosair value)

and go from there

also DO NOT go cheap on the power supply

it all depends on your budget...

e6300 is a great processor, but if you pay more, you can get the higher performing e6600. so make a budget.

these parts are considered good bang-for-the-buck high performance components:

cpu: e6600
video card: 7900GTO
ram: 2 X 1GB PC6400 DDR2800 dual channel kit with 4-4-4-12 timings or if you can't afford that then 5-5-5-15 timings.
PSU: antec truepower II 550watt

etc..
