Many Questions on a new PC

Playing the waited game with computers is a little tricky. It might be better to if you have a good system now but if not then maybe you shouldn't.

If your worried about DX10 you could get a Evga graphics card with the step up program . That way you can buy a graphics card now and then upgrade to G80 when that comes out next month. Or you could just buy whatever and sell it to buy a new card.

Personally I would suggest going with 2gb of ram if your wanted future proof.

To be honest, I don't think you could afford a decent Vista computer build on a budget of $1200. Like I said before, Vista is rumored to cost $400, the DV10 cards are over $400, and then you need a ton of expensive stuff to make it all work.

Forget waiting on Vista. It'll take them a while to get it running right. Just look at the early days of XP.

Forget CyberPower. Too many generic products for my tastes. Go to NewEgg, pick your parts, and then come back here to get feedback on them. Look around the forums at other people's threads and see what advice/parts are discussed.

Like, hard drive. The one from CyberPower is a generic SATA2 w/8MB cache. Odds are it is a Maxtor (not the best choice, or the second). 16MB cache is the best option, and is becoming the main choice.

Waiting is rarely a good idea when it comes to PC Hardware. I say go for it now, and then you can think about upgrading a year or two from now depending on how DX10/Vista goes over.

Ok, thanks to everyone. I feel a lot more confident about this whole thing now. I'll probably search through newegg later on today and post back.

So I've been looking around NewEgg for a WHILE, and so far I think these pieces are good to go:

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115003

VIDEO CARD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130065

RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820231085

HARD DRIVE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144701

CD/DVD DRIVE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827151133

I'm still not sure which is the best Motherboard, any suggestions? And will the case listed above be good to fit this stuff and easy since this is my first build?

It seems like no matter what the product is, SOMEBODY comments and says its the worst piece of junk they've ever bought, so it's hard to tell what's good or not.

Thanks again.

I wouldn't recommend you get OEM parts since they do not come with manuals and cables (i think?). Since you are new, I would recommend with going with retail parts.

yur vga will die on that power suply my 7900gt died on my 450 so go liek 500 and up next get a 2 gb kit of ram not a 1gb and dont get a 7900gt get a 7900 gto faster and cheaper
