RE: Freezing XP and win 98 systems

Hello

How would you recommend I go about diagnosing and eventually fixnig a PC that will freeze during the load up screen of WIN XPoad up to the WinXP screen OR after loading up and freezing at the desktop?

I have a WIN98 system that does the SAME thing!

Is there a program I can use? Keep in mind, most times I cannot even get past the winXP loading screen or WIN 98 loading screen. What programs do pc tech use? or what techniques?

I would consider

A) Going into last known good configuration for XP. See if that works.

B) For win98 - Safe Mode and run a virus scan. I would do the same for XP if it would not load the last known good configuration.
