First of this is a gaming pc but should be able to do some other stuff (read below...)

ANyways ive got about $600- $1000 i can spend, the cheaper the better but i dont want the machine to suck... I need it to play all current games on the market (that are worth playing of course...) and also be able to run maya, and CAD programs.

I dont know where to post this exactly so ill just post it here...
heres what ive looked at so far and what im considering getting...

MOBO: ASUS P5B Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E6400
GPX: Nvidia 7900 GTO (new card on the market)
RAM: Cossairs XMS2 (1 gb)
HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (250 gb 7200 rpm 16mb cache)
PS: i dont know.... something cheap but good and can support all this + more
MONITOR: SCEPTRE X20WC-Gamer 20.1" 5ms Widescreen

the rest i can figure out... (case, etc...)

so anyways just looking for opinions and or other ways to get some good stuff for my money


Just to give you an idea this is what ive got atm...
P4 2.8 ghz
1 gig ram
3 40 gig hds...
nvidia geforce 4 ti 4600
some intel board...
and yeah thats about all thats in it besides dvd rw (nec one...) its a decent machine but i cant play the new games...

also dont ask for specific parts i truly dont know...

Money left to get some optical drives and a Os. Have fun :) And with the build you have now the reson you cant play new games is because you video card is very outdated... Maybe just consider getting a good video card
 
Allright after reading these posts and some on another forum!!!

heres what ive gotten out of it (knowledge wise...) and what ive changed my plans too...

1. Right now i just want to get a good computer so im thinking about these parts to start with... and then add on later down the road...
GPX: 7900 GTO (out preforms the 7950 GT by alot...)
MONIOTR: NONE for now
MOBO: ASUS P5B (has eveything i need and a little more (SATA lol)
HD: 250 segate baricuda (i need the room. i cna already fill up 120 in a few days...)
RAM: 1 gig for right now of something decent 800 mhz dd2 stuff (i will upgrade to 2 when i get the monitor most likely)
CASE: Something cheap that looks cool and can get enough airflow
PSU: Antec True power2 550 W
