Can anyone please tell me how I can completely remove Internet Explorer 6 from my system (Win XP SP2)? It has become corrupt and I cannot fix it or re-install it. During install it tells me that a newer version already exists but does not allow me to uninstall it first!!

Is there any way to 'force' it to re-install over itself? I read a Microsoft help page that talked about setting a registry value 'IsInstalled' = 0 but this did not work.

Really need some help. Thanks

go to add/remove, add/remove windows components...

uncheck IE

reboot

then go back in and recheck it

Tried that but it never fully removed it from the system. I have a PC that was built using an IMAGE so I dont have the original XP CD which I appear to need using that method. If I download IE6 from microsoft.com, I cannot simply install it
