I am wondering if some one could have an anwser for my question I have. I am wondering if a copy of Windows XP pro upgrade will be able too do a bootable install on a freshly formatted hd?. Or do I need to run a copy of win98 or 2k windows?.
If it is a upgrade you will need a older version of Windows sometime during the install. Upgrades can not fully install without a older versions of Windows. Hence the term Upgrade disc.
Only Full versions can install XP fully on a fresh HDD without a older version of Windows.
You can reformat, as long as you have an older version of Windows install disk, I ran intothis problem a long time ago, with an upgrade version of Windows XP, which I thought it was suppose to be a retail version.
