Want to know what NVIDIAÂ’s G80 card will look like? These pictures have been verified to be one of the upcoming models of NVIDIAÂ’s next-gen GPU. Note the two six-pin power connectors and water cooler on one of the cards seems to still be prototype. This goes a long ways to confirm all of the 300 watt consumption rumors that have been circulating. Thanks to Joey R. for the pictures.

I'm sure that when the nVidia team has a card in research&development, they don't care what the heatsink/fan look like.

cool. I want, and probably will get. This is exciting.

I'm afriad that the rate of power consumption is increasing very rapidly! We now have 1000watts as a normal thing!

NVIDIA G80 Specs Unveiled?
Dailytech is posting a series of blog news items today claiming these are the G80 specs unveiled. While we cannot confirm or deny them they are definitely very exiting to look at and speculate on. If they are true the G80 is shaping up to be one killer GPU that is geared for more than just gaming, though gaming will be the heart of the beast with DX10 support. There are some interesting notes to make here including the speculation on a new physics engine in place on the G80.

Two models are discussed, an 8800 GTX with a 575 MHz core clock, 128 unified shader system running at 1350 MHz, 900 MHz 768 MB GDDR3 with a 384-bit memory bus and a 450 W PSU recommended. The 8800 GTS is stated as being 500 MHz core clock, 96 unified shader system at 1200 MHz, 900 MHz 640 MB GDDR3 on a 320-bit memory bus and 400 W PSU recommended. Again this should be taken as rumor and speculation since all NVIDIA next generation details are under embargo with no official announcements yet.
