Core 2 or not Core 2? That is my question.

Ok, im building (well actually my friend's building it for me as i'm too lazy) a mid-range rig that i want to play games on (at medium settings) and do a bit of work on.

So should i go for Core 2 (2.13ghz) and have a 1600Xt because then i have an upgrade path or shold i go for a AMD AM2 Athlon X2 (2.2ghz) and have a 7600GT.

I spend about 70% of my time on the net, 28% gaming and like 2% actually working, so what do you think is the best for me?

get the lowest core 2 there is and get the 7600gt its alot better then the 1600 imo.

You can overclock the E6300 to 4.0Ghz with stock cooling... Seriously

Dude, how does it sustain that speed without like, MELTING??
Sweet, but i dont want to go that far and plus i heard that only the e6400 can do that because of its 8x multiplier, where as the 6300 has an 7x multiplier.

But the Extreme edition has UNLOCKED multipliers!!! How sweet would that be, eh?
