CD burning problems

Am having problems burning an audio CD, songs files are satisfactory, using Sony CD-Rs. I have cleaned the drive, which is Philips DVD Burner, that was new in June.
Previous Philips model failed within year, and older CDRW failed within 4 years.
It seems to introduce small skips at the start of songs, any ideas/explanations? I have tried two different albums, and 4 burns.

more details please , are you ripping a music cd or is it an album that you are recording ? list steps
have you tried Nero burning rom. I think they have a trial 30 day version.

putting gaps in betwwen songs? Dont know what the setting is on your burning software but you can choose not to put gaps between songs (or files). losts of times you will not notice it until you burn somethis continuos like the wall.

Using Nero burning ROM, putting gaps between songs, songs are originally mp3s that I am burning as an audio CD. I have done this 100s of times before......
