hi guys. im at the point know where im gunna purchase a new processor. as far as i can see in my circumstances, my options are the amd athlon x2 4400,4600,4800. now i know that the 4400 has 1mb cache per core, and the 4600 only has 512kb, so the 4600 i think is out of the question.

so now i am left with the 4400 and the 4800, both with 1mb cache per core. there is a price difference of roughly £44, the 4800 obviously the most expensive. i am stuck! i dont know which to go for. alot of people say get the 4400 and easily overclock it to a 4800, but then you could just say get the 4800 and overclock that to make it even better. i really dont know what to do!

any opinions on which is best or if there are any other choices i have?
what sould i do??

thanks guys

harry

p.s. im talking socket 939 here.
p.s.s the 4800 is about £220, i dont really want to be spending more than that!

thanks

So you plan on getting a new motherboard, processor and RAM, no?

Basically -- if you have P4 system, why are you "talking socket 939" ?

yes, that is exactly what im talking about. ram and mobo are sorted, now i need the cpu, which is what i asked for. lol

the intel was socket 478 btw

Well, if you already have the RAM and motherboard for a socket 939 CPU, then get the 4800+, but if you don't already have a motherboard and RAM, then you could save tons of money and have way better performace by getting a Core 2 Duo E6300.

Either way, I don't see how we could make this decision for you, it's your money, if you want better performance then get the 4800+, if you want to spend less, then get the 4400+.
