can't install 98 se on laptop

HELP!! I can't install 98 se on laptop

I've fdisk'd, formated, and named partion on HD, but when I get to the win98 prompt and choose Start computer w/cd rom support I can't continue because I have to unistall Disk drive and install Cd rom. How do I do this so I can finish installation? or is there an other way to install OS? Need Help!

Just found an article @ http://www.cyberwalker.com/columns/mar01/080301.html that says that you need the recovery cd that came w/the laptop originally. I don't have one; so does any one have one of these for a Dell latitude Cpi d266xt?
