Laptop Problems Aaargh!!

Hi guys

My mate has a HP Laptop and when he turns it on he's met with a blank screen until he presses F1 and the system then boots into windows!!

Whilst in windows he receives numerous pop-ups stating "cannot save file due to read error, files being variants, from c:\$mft 2 diferrent variants of registry keys".

He has tried reinstalling windows many times but no luck!

Does anyone have any clues on what this maybe?

sounds like a potential memory or hdd problem. i am more inclined to say the former. download memtest and give it a whirl
