My dvd-rom isnt showing up

hey i got a Lite On LTC-48161H CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive and it wont show up on My Computer or the devise manager or the BIOS. I have the jumper cable set to master i tried slave it still doesnt show up

did u pull a working drive from where u connected this one. if so is there another computer u could hook hte drive up to to see if it even works it may be doa . lite on is usually pretty good both my drives are lite on and work great. but firs step is make sure everything is working it could be a dead ide slot or a dead drive.......

try changing the ribbon cable (IDE) for the drives

Is the IDE ribbon firmly in place?

Also make sure the cable is in properly.( Not in backwards)
