SATA question...

I am still using an IDE hard drive and thinking of upgrading to a SATA hd. I was just wondering do you have to install sata drivers before you install windows? Its just the first thing windows xp setup says is 'Press F6 to instal third party Raid drivers'. What is the real advantage of Sata? And also can you use sata for optical drives?

i believe it is just a faster way of transfering information. also sata and raid are 2 seperate things. on my mother board I have 8 connections for hard drives 4 sata and 4 sata raid connections. raid just lets you select how to save the information between hard drives for faster or safer means if you wish. I believe all this onfo is correct but not a genius here
