GIMP how is it ?

i built a rig for my aunt its running good and she is taking a photoshop coruse but dosent have photo shop.. does gimp look simalar.... i mena the buttions and i cons?

GIMP is good, but it still lacks a bit compared to PS, and it handles a bit differently.

If you want something that looks more like PS, I'd look into GIMPShop.

TheGIMP is quite powerful software especially for the low, low price of $0. Photoshop is quite expensive and if that is what she requires then i guess there is no substitute. but if she does not need photoshop then it would be great if she could adapt to GIMP.

Gimp is good.

Another free alternative is Photoplus 6.

You can buy Photoshop elements for much cheaper - its a simplified photoshop.

The GIMP is good, but if she is taking a Photoshop class, it will not help here to be using the GIMP at the same time. She needs to either fork out the cash for Photoshop, or spend a lot of time in the lab.

GIMP is really good if she is just in need of something that will give her most of the same functionality but if she gets into the more complex photoshop functions she will need PS to do it. She should look into sites like newegg.com or stores that sell used PC software if she is short on cash.
