IÂ’m not sure but I think mines going out. Ever so often I have to turn the sound all the way up just to get it back up to the normal sound volume level. What I have now is Realtek ACÂ’97 onboard and IÂ’m thinking of getting something like DIAMOND XtremeSound XS71DDL 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829111002.

Would I have to do anything beside then normal plug in the card install/driver and so on?

Also if its not my Realtek ACÂ’97 going bad and the sounds still low what else could it be?

Drivers are all up to date
Volume controls are all fine

No, same method when installing a video card.

And if it's not your onboard audio, it's your speakers.

I'm upgrading my sound card as well.

I've got a 2 speaker 1 subwoofer set up but I normaly use earphones.

its not the speakers going out I've tested it a few differn't earphones.

They got a rebate thing gonig on rite now into the end of today. If I order a DIAMOND XtremeSound XS71DDL 7.1 Channels its $56.99
($36.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate) not to bad.

So explain to me again why you would waste $36 bucks to get a 7.1 card, when you only have a 2.1 setup? The 5.1 card has the same quality, and is only $17.99

For the **** of it? and who knows I might get a get a better sound system.
