What does "Defraging" do?? I've seen on my windows xp like when i've been looking up specs, or just looking around, i've seen "Defrag disk" and it asked me to click.. Any help? I just want to know what it does becuase i've seeon some people say "Man i need to defrag more often."

Hello,

Basically, files on the hard drive can become fragmented. This is when parts of files are scattered around the disk. This can lower performance when accessing data, since the hard drive will need to seek areas which are spread about, when attempting to read a file.

Defragmentation (or defragging) resorts the data on the disk so that fragments of files are closer together (contiguous), thereby making data operations more efficient, improving performance.

i recommend Diskeeper it is one of the best defrag programs i have every used i didn't care for O&O but i have been using Diskeeper every week for about a year now it does an outstanding job.
