I have a noisy laptop fan, so much so, that im thinking of selling it and buying a new laptop. Now, I dont want to, since its a good laptop for me.

It's just too loud to bring to class.

Are there any ways to stop the fan from kicking into high gear? Like, its not ever hot air comming out, its just warm.

Specs.
Pentium 4 2.2 GHZ
14.1" screen
Windows XP Home ed.
480mb ram
40gb HD
CD/RW

You sure there isn't something being hit by the fan blades like a small strip of paper or something? Other than replace the fan I don't have any suggestions.

open it up and check if theres any wires rubbing against the fan its highly unlike that it might be a Strip Of paper! Like Superdave said replace it if its bothering u
try also blowing the fan with compressed air there might be dust blocking the air flow, and grease it up with WD40 or something

hope this helps!

whats the Brand? your Heatink had shown trouble, as its not dissapating the Heat properly, that is why your Laptop's fan is running again and again.

Is their a way to manualy slow down my fan? or alter my windows xp so it doesn't kick in?
