Hey guys.

I have about 4 grand to spend on building my own PC. I have my own hook up so I get parts cheaper than then what is average but basing off newegg what would be the best set up with no speakers and no monitor for 4 grand for a video game computer? I really only like AMD and ATI out of the competitors so if anyone could show me the right path of best items for the money etc etc id appreciate it(even send you some parts at my price :) Also is it worth it to get the PC right now or wait a while after vista or what? I need to know what the best deal is and best idea. I have no problem waiting 4-8-12 months if i can pull off something better. thank you

You could wait for DX10. 4 grand is really alot of money to work with so you could have a real nice rig.

yep that will basically kick ***. you STILL have money left over, so you could STILL buy another kick *** card when DX10 comes out.

I say get a cheap gfx card for now (7600GT) and wait for G80/R600 (R600 lookin s3xy ;)). Also get at least a C2D E6600 instead of an AMD (i wish AMD still had the performance lead but, it had to end sometime, at least for a little bit). Try and get a nice 975X conroe mobo (DFI Infinity, MSI). 2GB of DDR2 800 G.skill ram (4-4-4-12). PSU: OCZ GameXstream (600W or 700W) more power on the +12V rail than that Antec and cheaper. HD up to u, DVD drive up to u (SARCASM: you could dish out $700 for the new Sony Blu-Ray DVD±RW drive on newegg ;)). Case up to you. Slap a nice 3rd party cooler on the graphics and the CPU (CPU try the new Scythe hsf). $4k is alot of money for a comp, wish i had that much.

yea I just work non stop to get this money. So should I wait or go for it asap? Im not really diggin blueray much cause of the $$ + i dont feel the need for it. Is it nessisary/will it? thanks

lol once again it was sarcasm. I say go for ur build ASAP but stick with a 7600GT until the DX10 cards come out. Like i said, get a core 2 duo and either the DFI or MSI 975X mobos. They are amazin OCers. Get 2GB of DDR2 800 ram (I like G.Skill but look at OCZ, Corsiar if u want). OCZ GameXstream awsome PSU.

meefle are all those thigns you listed etc etc going to still be top of the line/ aorund the same preformace and price as if i was to wait till vista or something.

You never know with technology. I'm pretty sure K8L is comin on next year but not till Q3 i think. I'm not too sure. But if you get a E6600 and OC it to around 3.5ghz (which is pretty easy), you will have a kick-*** system. But DDR3 might be comin out late next year. Technology always changes and it changes fast. Even with a E6600 and a good DX10 card, you'll be able to play games on max settings for a long time. Why not just spend like $2K on a comp now (eventually get a DX 10 card), then save the rest, and upgrade if u want later. HDs, PSUs, DVD Drives, and cases normally dont have to be upgraded so pretty much u only need to upgrade CPU, Mobo, RAM, and graphics.
