pci converter

hi all, I'm into recording original music with my computer. I want to upgrade my P4 but the $800 PCI souncard I use won't work with the PCI-E computer I want to buy.
I may be off the wall here, but, does anyone know if there is an outboard device that allows me to connect the audio card as a PCI input and convert the data to a USB, firewire or PCI-E input?

What??? PCI-E is NOT backwards compatible. The slots are TOTALLY different.

100% of PCI-E boards have PCI slots in them. You should be okay.

the conductors won't even line up correctly. basically i agree completely with The General's post. the booard should have PCI, and PCI-E is not backwards compatible

PCI is Paralell. PCI-E is Serial.
What board are you getting? 90% of the PCI-E boards only have 2 or 3 PCI-E (beccause of the bandwidth they take) and 2 or 3 more PCI

Thanks for all the replies. I should have mentioned that the software I want to start using is Mac exclusive (Logic Pro). Therefore, I'm looking at buying a Mac Pro, which is PCI-E only.

Sell your $800 sound card and get one that will work with a Mac Pro ... or use the one that comes with the Mac Pro, which is high quality anyway.

The Mac Pro uses an Intel CPU (I believe) and is fully compatible with any PC software or hardware (again, that's what I think anyway).
