Hello, i recently bought a new stick of RAM to upgrade from 512mb
but have been having problems getting it to work.
I bought a stick of 1gb ddr ram (184pin) DIMM with ecc and when i slot it in and turn on my pc i get a nasty beep noise, i have tried taking the old one out and using just the new one but to no avail. The cards are identical when held next to one another and they seem to slot in perfectly (the new one a little slack).
The sticks are the same DDR DIMM 184 Pin, but my old 512mb does not have the ecc thing. I am wondering if it is a problem with my mobo not being compatible with the ecc or not. There are 4 slots for ram, 2 being green and 2 purple i have tried all of them and either the pc just doesn't start or i get the beep.
