Regedit and taskmanger problems

For some odd reason I can not get to my regedit. Everytime I try it says "Another program is currently using this file." I tried to go to the task manger to see what it could possibly be and that doesn't even come up when I do ctrl+alt+de. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be cause the problem for the reg edit and if there is an alternate way to get to the task manager besides the task bar

probable a virus, if you make a copy of the taskmgr program (%systemroot%\system32\) and call it somethng different i should work.

its a virus man ... it was on my pc the last month ...
how did i get rid of it ..
simply downloaded the latest verion of avg and its update ..
scaned all my drives ... (the os was heavily wonded so i had to format my c:\ drive )
and probliem was fixed !
dont waste ur time formatting before scaning all drives with the latest update ..
