CD Burner Won't Burn

My friend's CD burner won't burn CDs but it continues to read them, which leads me to believe that the drive itself isn't shot. I tried resinstalling Nero to make sure that wasn't the problem and I attempted to use iTunes and Winamp to burn a CD as well, so it's not a software problem. The computer acts as though it is actually burning the CD however when the CD comes out there is nothing written to it.

Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Look in My Computer, locate the drive. Right-click on it, and select Properties. Click on the Recording tab, and check "Enable CD Recording with this device". If it doesn't say that, then update drivers, because the computer thinks it's a CD-ROM drive!
