I'm planning on OC'ing my X2 3800+ to about 2.5(if I can get it that high). I have a DFI UltraII-M2 NF4 ULTRA and Patriot 2x1Gb 667Mhz Ram.

1) Now, I'll disable the cool'n'quiet option for the processor in the BIOS, but do you think I should turn it back on after I'm done OC'ing?

2) My ATI 1900xt hasnt arrived yet, but it will in a month or so. Since my rig would be overclocked by then, do you think I can just pop it in and hope it will work? Will I need to lock the PCI-E bus to 100Mhz or something?

thx guys, got this far with your help:)

Lock the PCI bus at their stock settings... you don't want to change them. Things can get screwed up when you change the PCI bus.

And don't bother with Cool'N'Quiet. I believe it underclocks your CPU at idle or when it isn't really being used that much, to make the fan quieter and it is cooler that way. But, it's really not neccasary. And I imagine changing the clock of the CPU all the time isn't exactly healthy for it, but I may be wrong.

Good luck OC'ing!
