How do I transfer music from a cassette player to my laptop or desktop? I use xp hjome edition. DO I need special connectors, softwares, etc. to record?
I have an analog cassette player with red and white wires coming out of the jack.
Download Audacity. It's free and you can record live music or from line-in. Just run a line from your headphone jack on your cassette player to your line-in jack on the PC. Works really nice. You can also use it when playing music over the net and record it. No downloading of the song required.
You can probably just find the songs off Limewire or something, that way you don't need to go through the hassle of trying to get the songs from the cassette.
In my opinion using your Line In to record sound will give you poor sound quality. I recommend you get a converter such as this one that plugs into your USB 2.0 port.. Usually these devices come with programs to record and convert your music as well.
