Hey all

I recently bought a 7800gt cheap for my new conroe rig, which i'm still waiting upon the motherboard for. Yesterday I came along a very cheap X1900XT

http://www.tigerdirect.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=37_42&products_id=550

$429 AUD ($329 USD)

The reason why its so cheap is because it only has 256mb of ram opposed to 512mb, i checked out reviews on anandtech of this card.

It generally beats a 7900gt on stock (so i figure it would destroy my 7800gt) but it cannot overclock as well, which is perfectly fine as i wont be overclocking.

It shares all the features of a regular X1900XT only that it has 256mb of ram, which i've heard is still awesome if you don't run your games in massive resolutions. I probably want more power then my 7800gt as i will be upgrading to DX10, but most likely then 2nd gen cards as i don't have enough money at the moment. The cheapest i could get a 7900gt for is $390 AUS ($299 USD) but they're generic and i just don't trust them.

So the question is, do you guys think the X1900XT 256mb is a good card? I have no issue with selling the 7800gt and chipping in the extra dollars for what looks like an awesome card.

Thanks in advance.

I would get a 512 card, while 256 is still good its starting to become a little more outdated every day.

newegg has some good deals on a 512 1900xt and 1900xtx, I would look into these

thats dang cheap for XTX, $325 with mail in rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814195002

also with rebate

I almost bought that xtx for $325 yesterday, but i have decided to wait till the 14th to see what the new 1950xtx brings and possibly get it. If you have about $500 to blow on a new card i would suggest you wait too, if not then get one of those.

"Napster: If you read the man's posts, you would have noticed that he lices in Australia, so Newegg would be of absolutely NO use to him. READ PEOPLE!

oops sorry I usually dont look at that, but at least he knows some general prices on those models and can shop elsewhere
