USB Hard drive installation / formatting.

Hello all.

I had a 40 gig. laptop hard drive that I bought an enclosure for. Threw it together, and using "Computer Managment," I've been formatting the thing for the last two or three hours.

I'm not quite sure it should be taking so long, but I'm afraid of touching it.

Any help / advice?

OK, It's been at least four hours. Still formatting.

Anyone? I'm afraid of over heating it.. It's getting warm and I'm still letting it run. It's been going for a good five hours and was getting hot, so I took it out of the case.

Not that I can tell. There's no bar indicating any progress, and Computer Management simply says "Formatting..."

try stopping it then right clicking the drive in my computer and selecting format.
