AVI Burning

I Have several AVI files that I would like to burn to a DVD. however, every time I try to send them to the drive, it tells me-Windows encountered a problem while trying to copy this file.... The drive is also listed as a CD drive, but is actually a DVD drive. Anyone have a solution?

are you sure its a dvd-rw? would you mind posting the exact drive you have.

The drive is a HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GMA-4082N found through device manager

I normally use Nero or Alcohol120 to burn my AVIs.

well thats the reason its not burning you don't have a dvd-rw. find your exact make and model on www.newegg.com, but from what i can see you trying to burn with a drive that doesn't burn dvd's

It says DVD multi recorder on it?

burn it as a dvd folder on the hdd first. then burn it to dvd

I have the same problem, everytime we burn any video file to dvd (nero, smartsoft....) it always fails, but i know ours is a DVD RW, its a Sony DVD RWDW-Q120a, i have tried and tried to get this sorted, its mad, any thoughts?

make sure you have the correct drivers for the drive

uninstall it, reboot and let windows detect it
