DVDwriter disappearin

tbh i've never had this problem on any of my previous pc's :/

on my brothers pc, if he did somthing on his pc to quick as it started up, his 2nd DVDrom/writer wouldnt appear at start up, normally he'd have to restart..

the other week, i got myself a new pc, up untill yesterday it was ok, now i seem to be gettin the same problem..

anyone know what causes it and a solution?

check device manager make sure it shows up on the list and if it does make sure there are no ! or ? next to the drive also update the firmware for the drive. do you have a brand name like HP, Dell, ect. i can get the firmware for you.

according to device manager its there and there's no problems, if it was in my old pc i wouldnt of had a problem, plus its a fresh installation of xp pro too.

pioneer dvd-rw dvr-160D

i did a bios upgrade for it about 6months ago too

could it be my pc is starting up to fast?
