Laptop Screen Backlight

I have a Dell Latitude D610 and when i remove the power cable then the screen backlight turns off and it is darker and not so easy to read what is on te screen.

I have tried going into Power Options but there is no option to change this.

Can anyone help me so that i can have the backlight on even when i am not plugged into the mains.

there should some options in the BIOS about power saving options to do with the screen. there you should be able to change it.

I have tried the BIOS and there is nothing to do with the light! I am really stuck!

Hello,

So the backlight turns of completely?

Boot up your laptop and run off the battery. Try holding down the <Fn> key while pressing the Up-Arrow key and see if anything happens to the screen.

well there is a backlight but it is not on full power. so it is darker. ill try that thing though.
